2020 GMLB Season Canceled
To All Greenfield Minor League Players and Families,
It is with a heavy heart that GMLB has decided to cancel the 2020 season. As you know it was our intent to begin practice on Monday June 15, 2020 that cooperated with phase 2 of the Massachusetts reopening plan. On Thursday June 11, 2020 the Greenfield Board of Health voted that youth sports would not be allowed during phase 2. This decision is scheduled to be re-evaluated at their next meeting on July 2, 2020. The GMLB Board of Directors decided that starting on July 2, 2020 or after would not be a feasible time frame. Please know that the GMLB Board of Directors exhausted all options to provide a safe environment to play baseball. However, the unexpected decision by the Board of Health to prohibit youth sports until at least July 2, 2020 did not leave a feasible amount of time for a sufficient baseball season.
Please be assured that the GMLB will continue its efforts in supporting the opening of all youth sports. Whether it is at the July 2, 2020 Board of Health Meeting or prior, we will be heard and appreciate your support. If youth sports are allowed back this summer, GMLB will consider organizing some “sandlot/pickup” games to keep youth active and involved. Thank you all for your patience and support. Stay safe and enjoy the summer.
The President and Treasurer will convene to establish a refund procedure which will be posted at www.GMLB.org and on the GMLB Facebook Page within the next week.
